come on come on let's go let's go playing games and having fun with their friends is what kids missed the most during the pandemic where is with Carlos Munoz Jr Mister moose he is the site coordinator for the LA Zoo best after school enrichment program at the 1st Street Elementary School in East LA and he committed himself to these students when he was just a student himself but I started 16 years ago I was going to roll the old high school and I jumped on board they were at the high school worker back when we have that position available and then from there I just moved on my passion has been always working with kids and helping the community so if I get something like my field they went to his availability 200 LAUSD schools and neighborhoods with the fewest resources yet the greatest needs had a one federal funds support programs in schools like Ali's best that help children from no income families receive a fair Equitable and high-quality education Title 1 funding is based on the percentage of students who qualify for the national school lunch program read the questions first and then when the story from the time the school bell rings and 6 p.m. LA's best students who are ages 5 to 12 receive a nutritious snack help with their homework and the opportunity to participate in a wide array of enrichment activities such as sorry I'm stem technology dance the Arts and much more Carlos works with students inside and outside the classroom on this afternoon he is helping students build robots that can go here ecology all we know that's the way of the casing is moving towards so we kind of get that aspect of things that we try to move it to you know doing robotics doing digital learning and so on to Remco CEO and director of Public Partnerships at least math and says the program has grown considerably since it was created in 1988 for the neighborhoods with greatest needs across the city because Vera Bradley and others saw a real need for what we've provided Ella is basto opportunities for students to have a safe place to go after school for just stated enrichment activities get help with her homework from relationships with caring adults all of those good things send to the parents of the students would not be able to afford an after school program is LA's best did not exist and 98% say they are able to keep their jobs because the children are in La fast this program is critical for families at school that received the most important reason is for working parents to be able to keep their jobs and know that their kids have somewhere safe to go after school but we also go well beyond that we make sure to support students with their academic needs their social emotional and mental health needs. holistic approach to support the whole student what was the response from some of the parents once the LA's best program started up again last year will definitely got a lot of positive feedback I know a lot of parents personally cuz I live in the and they will never see me in the supermarket they would always be asking me like hey when is the program coming back and I am ajan for the parents that have to work into the evening this program is a lifesaver especially because they don't have to pay for a babysitter yes correct and it feels good and I'll be able to provide comedian two ways of knowing also helping the parents and the students as well as grew up in the neighborhood where he now works and he says he's eager to continue supporting the Next Generation here I think that's a big factor as to why I'm still here and I'll probably still be here next year I think we're always expanding and gauging and exploring with the students
